With the 2014 Monster Jam: Path of Destruction main event almost here, there is a lot of buzz about who will be competing and giving fans the biggest thrills on June 14th at MetLife Stadium! Momma Lew had the chance to interview OUR favorite competitor - Four-time Monster Jam World Champion - Dennis Anderson! If you haven't heard of the name Dennis Anderson, than surely you have heard of the one and only Legend and best known Monster Jam truck -- Grave Digger!
Here's a bit from our conversation this morning:
What it is like to be a professional Monster Truck driver?
[It is] unbelievable that I am a pro monster truck driver, [it was] never a goal, it just happened and it's wonderful. Been doing this for 32 years and it still feels like I am playing with trucks.
What is your favorite part of performing at MetLife Stadium?
[The] Freestyle is great, fans and friends love it. At MetLife we always have something extra at the end of the show.
How did you get your start driving with Monster Jam?
I started out on the farm with tractor tires and discarded cars, [then I] started going to fairgrounds and running over cars and going through the mud. It turned into Monster Jam! [It feels good to have] paved the road with a lot of people for the world of monster trucks.
What makes Monster Jam such as great event for kids young and old?
The PIT PARTY! Even a non-mechanically inclined family can enjoy the games and events going on. It's bigger than life when you get to stand next to the trucks. It is at the beginning of the show and it's what brings the family together. You can experience a ride on a monster truck [going through] a little obstacle course.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
[Monster Jam is] A good family event, I am bring my family with me. [My son] Adam is the reigning world champ, year before he beat me, last year I beat him, so who will win this year? I am proud of my boys with following the family trade, dynasty now. I love showing off for the kids!
