No Sew Blanket

A few Christmas' ago my cousin gave me this book Crafty Mamas.  It's taken me 3 years to finally make something out of it!  This was a super simple and quick project.  The cost was about $11.  It would have been less but I got a yard and a half of fleece and didn't realize how big that was.  Especially when the little person you are making it for is only a little bit over a yard themselves.  I ended up trimming off a lot of which I bought to make it smaller.  These "taggie" blankets and toys are a big hit now for babies and I couldn't understand why!  Apparently it helps develop fine motor skills by sucking and tugging these taggies.

The best part of this project is that it does not have to be perfect by any means whatsoever, you will never be able to tell!

Ingredients:
1 1/3 yards of patterened fleece
1 1/3 yards of solid fleece
Ruler
Marker
3" square of scrap cardboard

Directions:
1)  Put your 2 pieces of fabric together with the unfinished sides facing each other.  Trim around the edges to make nice, clean edges.
2)  With your cardboard piece, cut a 3" piece of fleece off of each corner.
3)  Then cut 1-1 1/2" strips perpendicularly all around the perimeter of your blanket.
4)  Then tie your bottom piece and top piece together.  I found it easiest for me to cut and tie a few inches at a time all around.
5)  Pick up the blanket & hold 2 corners in your hand.  Pull around the blanket to stretch it out a bit.  It's ok to hear slight ripping sound as the fabric stretches.

All done:
